La Trava in Mango, the hill of history and wine

La Trava is a name tied to history, known by the great writer Beppe Fenoglio, who used to sit and meditate on episodes of the Second World War on this hill, located just before the village of Mango. Facts of the Resistance and country life were reported in the short story “The 23 days of Alba”. Mango village was the home of Partisan Johnny, whose story was narrated in the masterpiece by Fenoglio, “Partisan Johnny”, which is considered one of the most important Italian works of the 20th century.

La Trava is a place where history continues its course with the wine of Maria Grazia Rivetti, Giorgio Costa and their two daughters Elena and Manuela. The winery was founded in the 90s, when they bought the farmhouse and the vineyards. This choice was made due to their affection for a place where memories are always present and make history even more precious.

They refurbished the buildings and planted new vines, and they started to produce their first Moscato, bottled in 2000. The winery La Trava also produces Arneis, Dolcetto, Barbera and Nebbiolo, focusing on the autochthonous vines of the region of Mango. Thanks to hard work and a passion for this part of the Langa, where the hills are very suitable for the production of the sweet Moscato, they started to export their wines around Europe. In 2010 La Trava, together with other four producers and the oenologist Massimo Boido, opened a wine shop in Prague (www.lestradedelvino.eu). Their aim is that of enhancing the wines of five different regions, in order to offer high quality red and white wines with different characteristics to wine lovers. They introduce their wines personally and meet their customers: this is the business philosophy of the Azienda Agricola La Trava. It is a transparent selling method, which is based on direct contacts. “Wine unites people, wine is produced by people for other people".

La Trava is also equipped with a motorhome area, where motorhome fans can admire the landscape of the Langhe of Alba and Asti.
