This varietal is farmed throughout Piedmont and Italy, but it achieves its full potential in the Alba and Asti areas.
Bright purple-red colour. Intense grapey aroma with hints of berries. Firm, well balanced taste, pleasantly fresh with a long fruity finish.
Achivi Barbera is excellent when paired with first courses with meat or cheese such as Castelmagno risotto. Excellent also with strong flavoured cold cuts, second courses as tagliata di filetto or bushmeat. It pairs well also with soft cheese such as toma di montagna.
Achivi:
Achivi vineyard and hamlet are part of Mango municipality. Their eastern exposure guarantees a good balance of sun and shade. The soil is dry and the field is very windy. Only the usually only the downstream rows are employed so as to obtain a young and full-bodied wine.
